RTAI Annual Convention & AGM 2024.

The Annual Convention and AGM 2024 was held in the Croke Park Conference Centre on Tuesday 11th of March. Mary McCarthy opened the Convention and presided over the event.
The guest speaker was Ms Nuala Moore. She is an award-winning Irish Open Water Swimmer and Author. Ms Carmel Browne, vice president, represented the INTO at the Convention and spoke on their happenings. Ms Ursula Knox , founder of Opportunity Knox, spoke about the “no overheads” charity for schools in Uganda.
The NEC Report 2023 and the Financial report 2023 were presented by our General Secretary, John O’Brien. Our membership is over 10,000 and growing, he informed us.
Motions were debated & accepted. Reports were given and approved.
Mary McCarthy, in her closing speech, thanked everyone involved in the running of RTAI. She said that “the secretaries are the lifeblood of RTAI”.”Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine” she continued.

Mary finished up by handing over her chain of office to the incoming President of RTAI, Charlotte Maye. Máire Ní Chuinneagáin has moved up to the top table as our new Vice President of RTAI and we congratulate her. Carmel Niland replaces Máire on the National Executive Committee. Well done to both of them. Galway is well-represented at the top !
